Here are some samples of a few of the common barcodes.
Codabar: Used in library systems and sometimes blood banks.
Code 11: Mainly used for labeling telecommunication equipment.
EAN-13: EAN=European Article Numbering. International Retail code
EAN-8: Compressed version of EAN code.
Industrial 2 of 5: Not used much these days.
Interleaved 2 of 5: Compact numeric code - typically for air cargo.
Standard 2 of 5: Not used much these days.
Plessey: Sometimes used for retail shelf marking
MSI: Variation of the Plessey code.
PostNet: U.S. Postal Service uses for sorting mail.
UPC-A: UPC=Universal Product Code used for retail products in the USA and Canada. If you need to contact the orgainzation that manages the UPC manufacturer ID's, click here www.uc-council.org
UPC-E: Compressed version of UPC code.
And of course, there are the 2D and 3D varieties.
